Boston Consulting Group
Adapting local culture in modern architecture
The new office for Boston Consulting Group in Auckland is an open, warm and welcoming space for clients, staff and guests. Enhancing the client's culture and brand expression, it creates a strong sense of place and a desirable destination for work. Located on the top floor, the tenancy has extensive views out over Westhaven Marina, the Tank Farm and Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Responding to BCG's desire to showcase NZ to their international clients and colleagues, the design centred on the idea of adapting local culture in modern architecture. Colours were customised for NZ and elements of the waterfront location were brought into the modern workplace – with natural materials and texture invoking a connection to nature.
BCG's workplace requirements included multi-functional spaces as well as a range of focus areas. The nature of BCG's business brings teams together from multi-locations – both physically and virtually – and includes the requirement for privacy when needed. The design response focused on user-centric design principles and advanced technology offering multi-functionality and choice.
