Leading law firm Hudson Gavin Martin (HGM), legal specialists across technology, media and IP, re-engaged STACK Interiors in mid 2022 to expand their existing workplace at 45 Queen Street, Auckland.
HGM's existing fitout, completed by STACK Interiors in 2019, responded to HGM’s vision to create a space that delivers the best to HGM’s people and focused on the close relationships with clients. The original brief also called for a connection to HGM’s strong brand personality and the fitout was well received. Simon Martin, Founding Partner at HGM, commented, “we said essentially to STACK - we told you who we are, now create something that resonates with the look, the feel, the brand. We were happy with what was created from day one. It was easy!”
The initial fitout provided a large, flexible arrival lounge and adjacent café that invites guests and staff to enjoy coffee while taking in the stunning harbour views. Adjoining the arrival space is a fully flexible meeting suite allowing a variety of meeting configurations and staff training. These meeting spaces also provide the ability to host larger client groups with manoeuvrable partitions creating the flexibility to open the space. Punctuating the workplace are open collaboration areas, quiet rooms and concealed utility spaces in deeper parts of the building.
The expansion of HGM’s workplace builds on this work, and saw the tenancy expand to occupy an entire level of 45 Queen Street. 16 additional desks, collaboration spaces, quiet / focus rooms and a dedicated VC Room complement the existing workplace. The expansion, designed and built by STACK Interiors, was completed on time and on budget.
STACK Interiors Managing Director David Gunn said, “being re-engaged by HGM to expand the space is a testament to the work completed during the initial fitout. The existing space looks as good as it did when we delivered it in 2019”. Gunn added, “It is always a pleasure to work with existing clients and to build on those genuine partnerships – especially with HGM – who were prepared to step away from the hierarchy of traditional law firms and provide a breath of fresh air for their clients”.
The relationship between the two firms extends back to the 2008 fitout at HGM's previous location. Designed and built by STACK, the fitout was awarded Silver in the 2008 DINZ Best Awards Spatial Design Category.
